snow, trail report and Chris Cornell

uh it's snowing.  Alot.  5in down low must have close to a foot up top.  As my wife's PT said at 6AM today----I'm gonna get some new customers out of this.

That was taken this morning not in January.

Trail report---well up until today the trails had started to get pretty nice.  I continue to be scared shitless mountain biking but I continue to give it a try.  Last week I went until I got stuck in deep snow (West Government trail).  South rim trail was totally dry.  I also hiked up West government until I got to the Knob lift at which point I gave up due to the thigh high snow (again that was so last week).  It was probably all gone by yesterday and who knows what it is like now.

Also been running the dogs up smuggler.  I continue to get beaten up by 70 year old women.  Clearly I am not a local but I console myself that my dogs slow me down (making sure they don't get too far off track and scooping the poop)

And another fucking teaching moment this morning at breakfast.

Chris Cornell died last night--it looks like suicide. He was one of my son's favorite musicians (and mine too).  We were lucky enough to see him play last summer on the higher truth tour and he just blew us away.  Kinda ironic that he covered Prince in tribute---tonight (Thursday) Elijah is playing at the open mic at Marble Distillery in Carbondale he will probably go on around 7 pm.  He hasn't practiced his Chris Cornell stuff in months but I would expect a set heavy in Cornell, Temple of a Dog and maybe bringing back Just Breathe by Pearl Jam assuming he can get through it without totally breaking down (last time he played it was when Jarvis was put to sleep).

So the teaching moment --opioids screw with your brain.  And depression is a disease.  Stay on your meds and off the drugs and talk to someone.

I'm gonna go make some snow angels.
